San Jose Trickery News: September, 2003 [7.9]

The September Performers

Carey Klenetsky started off the evening with a production of bills.

John Signa played the part of a detective investigating a robbery. He handed Ramona Heimlich a mystical sealed envelope. Scott Emo - the suspect - chose a matchbook, cut a stack of bills and provided 3 digits of a serial number (4-3-2). Opening the mystic envelope we discovered a police report and an evidence bag. The report described the location of the matchbook, the serial numbers matched, the dollar amount matched the report, and the serial numbers matched the key in the evidence bag.

Winner!
The Amazing Vijay and son Vineet were next. Alex Moorehead picked a card and Vineet found it. Next Carlucci (Carl Epolite) and Stefan Fisher picked cards and Vineet found them. Next Bob picked a card and the cards were put away in the box. Vineet was unable to locate it. Vijay enlisted Ramona and a coin to do the magic. Ramona picked the KD, put it back and they were shuffled and spread face down. The cards touching the coin were eliminated. This was repeated until finally we discovered the the coin itself had a King of Diamonds on it! This father and son duo won the September performance award for "Best Recovery from a Fumble". Congratulations, men!

Scott Emo showed the half bottle of potion that his grandmother left him. He spilled  it on himself and his torso disappeared!

Joe Atmore described how he liked to make decisions by tossing a die and reading his cards to determine what to do. Peter Apel came up to verify the process. Peter rolled a die and got a four. Card number 4 said "Be Nice" however all of the others said "Kill"! Whew... lucky for us?!

Kaylan Koski borrowed a $20 from Carey Klenetsky. Michael Holt concentrated on  a number from 1 to 8. The "8" that he chose corresponded to a symbol which matched Kaylan's prediction.

Joe Cafall showed two gold Sacagawea coins, closed them in his fist and they turned into 2 Susan B. Anthony coins. And to be fair, he then turned them into one of each which he then passed out for inspection.

Stefan Fisher told about the 13 people invited  over for dinner (symbolized by red faced cards). Noting that there were 13, one party left - but still there were 13. Another person left, again leaving 13! This time 2 people left the dinner promptly. It's a good thing, too, because there were still 13 left at the dinner table - and all had died and turned black.

Bob Dippel showed a goofus plant that only blooms every 100 years. Oddly he never seemed to see the blooms though everyone else did. In the end he was shocked when snakes jumped out of a can.
